FLIMSY FRIDAY - AKA FINISH IT UP FRIDAY

Today I'm working on this flimsy.  It still needs the bottom row.  I'm working on that now.
Then the question will be to end it there, using the stripe fabric for binding, or add an outer border, somewhat like piano keys, but from the same stripe fabric.  Opinions?

Edit by Pat:
Hmmm...........I'm starting to think those stripes are fighting with the blocks.  How about a really dark navy there instead?  And would you then use the stripes for binding?  Or maybe a navy 'stop border' (narrow around the whole thing) and then the stripe border?  Decisions, decisions................

  1. I love your flimsy. I'm not usually a big fan of blue quilts; but, this is nice.

  2. I like how you have put that stripey border in. It's looking really good as it is - I would say leave it how it is with a stripey border. However I'm not terribly adventurous and it could look really terrific with an extra stripey border! I'll be interested with what you end up doing.

Have mine on the design wall but not sure what I am going to add & do just yet...I have arranged & rearranged the blocks, and I think I have them the way I want:)May need to make a few more myself...

  5. This is a great looking quilt! I think you have enough stripes as it is and maybe a more solid-looking border would look nice . . . to kind of frame-up the entire quilt. It will be fun to see what you decide.

  6. Hi Pat, It looks good! The center stripes act as a sort of optical illusion, and I like them there. Would add a border of solid navy and then piano keys, perhaps? Marianne

  7. Ooooh! This is gorgeous!! I love how you've used the strip (is that pieced) fabric to 'introduce' a border with some of the blocks.... If it were mine I'd stop right there and finish with a scrappy blue binding... maybe not the stripe... don't know, LOL... fat lot of use am I! LOL...
    Great going though!

  8. I like the pieced sashing, it made me take notice! I probably would not do the piano keys borders, though. You've really made this your own. Go with what makes you smile ~

  9. Love your blue and white blocks!

My suggestion would be to use a dark navy solid instead of the striped fabric. I think you're right about it "fighting" with your blocks. Maybe the striped fabric would make a better border with a solid navy binding.

Looking forward to seeing how you finish this one up . . .
