ROUND ROBIN RETURNS!!!

I haven't posted very often lately, as mostly I've been working on Round Robins that are secret until the owner gets hers back.  These are from a swap on The Quilter's Thread.

This is mine, that I received on Friday.  The center is a lonely orphan block from an applique class.   I LOVE the rounds that each quilter added!  The fabrics are mostly 30's, and they are much perkier than this washed-out photo shows.

The flying geese round is especially appreciated, as it was made by Josie, who has since moved on to heaven:(  She will be greatly missed by her friends and family, and yes, even by online friends who never met her in person, like me.  The world is a better place because she was here.

Here's Jodi's quilt.  I had her's last and got a picture.  Wish I could share more of them with you, as each is spectacular.

OOH LA LA!

 

Look what arrived in the mail yesterday!  Remember when I posted just the center block a few months back?  Well here she is back home after a trip all over the USA and even to Australia.

Each participant put so much love into their work.  The beautiful applique was that gal's first attempt at machine applique.  Lovely.  And do you  notice how the outer blocks mimic the flow of the applique? So much care went into this quilt.

I just LOVE everything about this quilt top.  I am so grateful to each of the participants, as well as to our hostess.  I'm happy dancing here!

ROUND ROBIN

I'm still pondering what pattern to use for the next border, but I think I have the fabrics.  The owner requests that we stick with batiks and batik-like fabrics.

 

 

The pattern chosen will determine how many I need; but I'm leaning toward dogtooth border with the top two.

A PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS

 

The next round of the medallion swap has arrived, but I'm not quite sure what to do with it next.  Usually I know right away, but this time, not so much.

The previous stitcher left that last blue border large, so I can trim it to fit what I decide to do.  Wasn't that thoughtful?

So please help me out here.  What do you think the next border round should be?  Stars?  Piano keys?  Applique?  What?

ANOTHER ROUND ROBIN

This week I worked on another round robin quilt.  Above is how it looked when I sent it off to AZ. 

 

Below is how the quilt looked when it arrived to me.  The first border quilter turned the center on point and added some applique too.  I added the CW print beige strip to set off that part, and to bring it up to a size that would fit my design.  I needed space for an odd number of flying geese to fit each side.

 

Generally the selecting fabric part is one of my favorites.  But this time I selected, cut, and started the stitching several times, before finally being happy with my third choice.

I'm ahead of the game on this swap now.  The next one is due to me late in July.  I hope it comes early, but it's all good.

I also worked on a row for a row swap this week, but that one is top secret until the owner gets it back.    The theme was Harry Potter, so you'll just have to guess what I did -- jelly beans, wizard hats, brooms for quiditch, round eye glasses, ...............?

Now to get back to 'my' stuff.

ROUND ROBIN

I had the opportunity to add the first border, courthouse steps, to Lynda's quilt center.

 

This is how her center looked when I received it.  It's so fun to select fabrics to use, and to come up with a plan!

There are 5 gals in our group, so she'll be getting 3 more borders.  All of the quilts look wonderful so far.  Mine is now safely in Australia, getting it's second border.  Up next here is Lenny's.  More about that one later.

Round Robin

This is my center for a round robin.  It's an orphan block from a few years back, squared up to size with the narrow border.  We'll be posting pictures of progress as we go, so I'll get to see progress before the end.

Other things I've been working on are secret so can't share yet.
