BOOKCASE QUILT ADVICE, PLEASE

Here is my progress so far. And here is where I'm stumped. Should I stop here? Should I add a wood grain border all around? Should I attic window the whole thing, using my darker wood grain on the left and top, and the lighter on the right and bottom? None of the above? What should I do instead?

I truly value your opinions and do hope you'll help.

I think a final border of the wood-grains, in the attic window style would be perfect! What a beauty!

Attic window the whole thing for a great finish!

Oh, yes....DEFINITELY attic window it, Pat. It is looking wonderful so far and doing the extra with the attic window technique will have it SPECTACULAR!!!

ditto to what has been suggested and as an out side the box thought--what about doing borders that look like walls and hang photos of the family. you could even make the wall larger on one side and do a quilt in a stand or a coat rack or whatever you think looks good beside the bookcase. A window view of the yard?

I would attic window this quilt if you are using wood grain fabrics.

I would add another boarder because in many ways it is a realistic image but the bookcase is too light to hold up that many books!!!! I would even consider putting some sort of decorative head piece and footings ....

I love your Attic Window setting, I am going to copy you !!! Well done, it is going to be so pretty. Where will you hang it ?

When I look at your quilt, it looks perfect. The whitish background (your wall?) looks like the bookcase belongs there.

In OTHER words, if you add another row of woodish coloring, it won't look like a bookcase anymore, IMHO. Add a strip of wall background, if you wish, but not the woodish part...

I hope you understand what I mean.

If not, send me an email. *s*

How big do you want this? Who will it be for? Perhaps just bind it. I don't think an attic window setting will look right with it though. Pretend it a built in bookcase. Do the final borders like your windows and doors are trimmed. Just look where the quilt will go and imitate or exagerate the wood moulding trims of that area. You could have rosette cornerstones, mitered borders or whatever speaks best to you. IMHO. Looks great as it is though, nicely done. Jane

LOVE IT!!! I think it does need another border in woodgrain - either straight cut all round or attic window :)

I love this! And it is JUST what I'm looking to do for a member of our quilt guild. She loves to read and we were given 3 fat quarters and can use up to 3 more fabrics. Would love more info on how you made this. And just out of curiosity, what is "attic window" everyone has mentioned?
